Prison Ministry at HNM is an ad hoc service by some members of the parish. One such service is the weekly trip to Westchester County Jail, where we conduct a Eucharistic Service for any residents who are available to attend. We use the scripture readings from the preceding Sunday, The service is participative in that the men assist with the readings, and the prayer of the faithful is spontaneous. Homily is often followed by dialog discussion, and sometimes extra prayers. The goal is to bring the word of God and the Sacred Eucharist to some who would have no other access to it. We also distribute rosaries, religious reading material, and sometimes, bibles. |

This rewarding ministry involves taking the Eucharist to inmates in jail. Volunteers are needed to help with bible studies, religious services, and religious education.Donations are welcome.
Other parishioners have participated in other phases of prison ministry, such as: retreats in prison, women's jail, bible studies, participation at Masses, counseling, project Angel, and re-habilitating released prisoners.
We have experienced so much benefit, ourselves, from this ministry; prayers for our own needs, spiritual enlightenment of seeing others' points of view, strengthen our marriage. So far as we know, we have converted no one, we have saved no one, we have helped no one to reform and live a better life; but only God really knows....We work under the auspices of the Chaplain, Father Paul Tolve.
