The Baptism Ministry is comprised of a group of parishioners who have joined together to welcome the new members of our parish into Holy Name of Mary and the larger faith community of Catholicism. Our mission is one of welcome: we meet the families of the children to be baptized in a once a month session to welcome them into our community as well as go over what is entailed in the sacrament of baptism on the actual day and further along in the life of the child. We discuss the responsibilities of bringing a child to the church for baptism and how our community welcomes new members. The classes that new parents attend for baptism take place on the first Monday of every month at 7:30 in the Parish Center chapel. Baptisms are scheduled for the second Sunday of every month during the 10:45 a.m. Mass. |
Every member of the baptism ministry is responsible for one month of the year in which they will attend the class and any baptisms that will take place. During the actual baptismal ceremony, the minister will work with the family and the celebrant to make sure the day goes smoothly and is special for everyone involved.
