Father Mike

The son of a retired New York City police officer, Father Keane played football and lacrosse while growing up in Rockland County, briefly studied business at Manhattan College and played drums in a Southern rock-influenced band called Southpaw before turning to the priesthood.
For seven years Father Keane taught religion and psychology, as well as working as a strength and conditioning coach, at Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie. He joined the Holy Name of Mary Parish in the spring of 2002.

Father Loyola

Father Loyola began working as a Parochial Vicar here in 2002 after spending 12 years in Milwaukee.  He has BA degrees in philosophy, psychology, and systematic theology. He holds his Master’s and Doctorate in counseling with a minor in clinical psychology from Marquette University. His graduate work for his doctoral research focused on the role of mental imagery in physical, psychological, and spiritual healing which examined religious and mystical perspectives from the traditions of Shamanism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Christian mystics, Kabbalah (Judaism), and Sufism (Islam). His dissertation, Imagery’s Place in Physical, Psychological, and Spiritual Healing Perspectives from Religious and Mystical Traditions, was published in 2002. Fr. Loyola also offers regular seminars in this specialty and counseling and spiritual direction to a number of people in and around the parish.

Father Nelson

Fr. Nelson Couto comes to HMN after serving in the Archdiocese of New York for over six years. He is a veteran Missionary who has spent a large part of his priesthood as a missionary among the Rathwa Tribals of Gujarat. Born in Mumbai he is the eldest of six children, He has worked as a technician in a Jeep factory, an Assistant Engineer driving trains and has also worked among youth in India. He has served the Salesian
Congregation for over thirty years as rector, administrator, pastor, workshop manager and youth co-coordinator. He is well known for his retreat preaching, spiritual counseling and availability to all who need his help. He comes to us from St. Philip Neri in the Bronx
where he was very active with the youth ministry.
